Senior Heat Pump\Solar PV Design Engineer

To strengthen our capabilities in the specification of low carbon solutions for domestic applications we are looking for an experienced Heat Pump\Solar PV Design Engineer, with the ability to create detailed and accurate heat pump system designs using data supplied from our home surveyors, who conduct heat loss assessments and capture system specification for technologies such as air source heat pumps and hot water cylinder replacements.
 
As an experienced designer of heat pump & Solar PV systems you’ll produce robust M&E installation schematics and plans that are MCS compliant and support installation of these technologies.
 
You’ll work with the supply chain to review, approve and challenge 3rd party specifications and solutions on behalf of our customers. Working with our Quality Assurance team to develop the internal quality management and technical processes and standards to ensure a consistent high level of service is delivered to our customers.

What you'll need


•     Experienced in domestic building heat loss assessments, commercial buildings would be a desirable addition
•     Experience with equipment sizing for air source heat pumps, hot water cylinders, pipework, control valves, pressurisation systems as examples and in line with industry recognised standards (CIBSE)
•     Solid experience of survey, design & specification of domestic air source heat pump and Solar PV systems 
•     Mechanical background is essential but also knowledge and basic electrical competency levels is desirable
•     Confidence and experience to review and challenge 3rd party external heat loss reports and designs
•     Must have knowledge of domestic heating design standards and legislations
•     Comfortable with 2D CAD for basic M&E design
•     Well organised and able to manage multiple projects
•     Develop internal process and continuous improvement measures
•     Previous experience within MCS accredited organisation

 

Essentials & desirables


•     Minimum 3 years’ experience of survey, design & specification of domestic air source heat pump systems
•     Mechanical & engineering qualifications are essential. Minimum HNC is preferable, or a time served individual through a recognised       apprenticeship programme
•     Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) qualified is desirable but not essential
•     On Construction Domestic Energy Assessor (OCDEA) qualified is desirable but not essential
•     BPEC Energy Efficiency Part is desirable but not essential

Trainee Heat Pump\Solar PV Design Engineer

To strengthen our capabilities in the specification of low carbon solutions for domestic applications we are looking for a trainee Heat Pump\Solar PV Design Engineer, with the ability to create detailed and accurate heat pump system designs using data supplied from our home surveyors, who conduct heat loss assessments and capture system specification for technologies such as air source heat pumps and hot water cylinder replacements.
 
You will produce robust M&E installation schematics and plans that are MCS compliant and support installation of these technologies as well as general office duties.
 
You’ll work with the supply chain to review, approve and challenge 3rd party specifications and solutions on behalf of our customers. Working with our Quality Assurance team to develop the internal quality management and technical processes and standards to ensure a consistent high level of service is delivered to our customers.

•     Mechanical & Electrical background is essential but also knowledge and basic electrical competency levels is desirable
•     Confidence and experience to review and challenge 3rd party external heat loss reports and designs
