MCS umbrella scheme

Install heat pumps under our MCS umbrella

For qualified plumbers, gas engineers, and renewable installers who want MCS accreditation without the cost and admin of running their own.

How an MCS umbrella scheme works

You install. We certify. Your customer benefits.

01

You install the heat pump

Using your existing qualifications, skills, and tools as a competent trade installer. The work is yours. We are not on site.

02

We provide the MCS certification

Every install is submitted to us and signed off under our MCS accreditation. We handle the certificate, the MCS portal registration, and the compliance paperwork.

03

Your customer gets a certified install

Fully MCS-certified and eligible for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. You keep the customer relationship. We handle the back-office accreditation.

Why MCS certification matters

What MCS actually unlocks for your customers

Without MCS

Installs that cost your customers more

  • Customers cannot claim the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant of up to £7,500
  • Most lender finance products require MCS certification
  • Some manufacturer warranties require MCS-certified installation
  • Homeowners researching online will look for MCS-verified installers first
  • You compete on price alone, without the credibility MCS provides

With MCS via our umbrella

Every install is fully certified from day one

  • Customers can access the full £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant
  • Your installs appear on the MCS register, the first place homeowners check
  • Full manufacturer warranty support on MCS-registered systems
  • You become a credible, competitive option without running your own accreditation
  • No waiting months for your own MCS application to complete

MCS is now the default expectation for any heat pump installation in the UK. Without it, you are leaving customers without access to significant government support.

MCS umbrella scheme for installers

Who the scheme is for

Plumbing and heating engineers

Already experienced with wet heating systems, pipework, and heat emitters. The transition to heat pumps builds on existing skills. The MCS requirement is the main barrier.

Gas engineers diversifying

Moving from gas boilers into renewable heating as the market shifts. Heat pumps are a natural next step for engineers who understand heating loads and system design.

Renewable installers

Adding heat pumps to an existing solar PV or battery offering. A single scheme partner relationship covers the MCS certification for heat pump work alongside your current installations.

New trade businesses

Entering the heat pump market without the overhead and wait time of applying for full MCS accreditation independently. A faster route to taking on certified work.

What you get as a scheme partner

What the umbrella scheme includes

The practical benefits for trade installers who work under our MCS accreditation.

MCS certificate per install

A full MCS certificate is issued for every job you complete under the scheme. Ready to hand to the customer on completion.

Boiler Upgrade Scheme eligibility

Every install qualifies the homeowner for the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant. Without MCS certification, that money is unavailable to your customers.

Technical design support

System sizing, heat loss calculations, and specification guidance when you need it. Not a replacement for your skills, but available when the job requires it.

Compliance and admin handled

MCS portal submissions, compliance documentation, and the registration paperwork are managed by us. You focus on the install.

Faster route to market

No waiting months for your own MCS accreditation to work through the system. Once you are onboarded with us, you can start taking certified work.

Lower overhead

No full MCS scheme fees, no annual audits to manage independently. A per-install cost rather than a fixed overhead regardless of volume.

How the process works

From first conversation to certified install

01

Initial conversation

We talk through your business, your qualifications, your current work, and what you are looking to do. No obligations at this stage.

02

Fit assessment and commercial terms

We assess whether you meet the scheme criteria and walk you through how the commercial arrangement works. All straightforward and in plain English.

03

Onboarding

You complete any required compliance checks or training top-ups. We set up your account on our system and confirm you are ready to start submitting installs.

04

You quote and win work

You take on heat pump jobs in the normal way, as you would any other heating project. Quoting, surveying, and winning the work is entirely yours.

05

Submit each install to us

On completion, you submit the install details to us. We issue the MCS certificate, handle the portal registration, and manage the compliance documentation.

06

Customer receives a fully certified install

Your customer gets an MCS-certified system, eligible for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. You keep the relationship, the revenue, and any ongoing service work.

MCS umbrella scheme cost

How the commercial side works

Straightforward structure. No surprises. Here is how the arrangement works financially before you get on a call.

Per-install fee

A fee is paid to us for each MCS certificate issued. No monthly retainer, no annual charge, no minimum volume commitment.

You keep the revenue

The install revenue, the customer relationship, and any ongoing service or maintenance work all remain yours. We certify the job, not the business.

No long-term contract

There is no minimum term and no lock-in. If the arrangement stops working for you, you are not tied in.

Pricing is job-specific

The fee varies with system size and complexity. We talk through the numbers on a call before you commit to anything.

What you need to bring

What we need from you to join the scheme

Qualifications

Relevant trade qualifications

Plumbing, heating, gas, or electrical qualifications appropriate to the scope of work you plan to undertake.

Heat pump installation draws on wet system design, refrigerant handling, and electrical connection. Your existing qualifications need to cover the work you will be doing.

Insurance

Public liability insurance

Standard trade insurance to cover your installs. A minimum level of public liability cover is required before you can start working under the scheme.

Your existing policy may already cover heat pump work. If not, this is straightforward to add.

Track record

Evidence of competent installation work

A track record in relevant installation work — plumbing, heating systems, or renewables. We are not looking for heat pump-specific experience in every case, but we need to see that you install to a high standard.

Previous installation photos, references, or examples of completed work all count.

Standards

Commitment to MCS quality standards

Every install submitted under our accreditation must meet MCS standards. No exceptions. This is what the certificate represents.

We provide guidance and design support, but the quality of the physical installation is your responsibility. If that is a problem, this scheme is not the right fit.

For homeowners

Searching for a heat pump installer?

Eco Green Partners does not install heat pumps directly to end customers. We run the MCS umbrella scheme that lets vetted trade partners install heat pumps under our accreditation.

If you are a homeowner looking for a qualified heat pump installer, we can connect you with a partner installer in your area who works under our MCS umbrella.

Any installer we refer will be vetted, qualified, and able to issue a fully MCS-certified system, meaning you can access the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant.

Looking for a heat pump installer? Call us on 01275 350 085 or email info@ecogreenpartnersltd.com and we will put you in touch with a vetted partner.
