Why housebuilders work with us

Four things that make the difference on a new build scheme

01

EPC-neutral design from specification

We work to your SAP targets at design stage, not after. Early engagement means Part L compliance is built into the specification — not retrofitted at cost or programme risk.

02

Delivery aligned to your build programme

We integrate with your site, commercial and technical teams. Solar does not cause scaffold rehire, critical path delays or handover issues when the programme is planned properly.

03

One contact from brief to handover

No handoffs between sales, design and installation. The same person who specifies your scheme installs it and signs it off. Proactive updates at every stage.

04

Commercial awareness built in

We understand margin, timeline and programme pressure. Our design approach protects your costs and your completion schedule. No surprises at handover.

Who we work with

New build solar PV for every development type

Regional housebuilders

Multi-plot residential schemes from 5 units upward. Volume pricing, programme coordination, MCS per plot.

Housing associations

Affordable and social housing designed to EPC and SAP targets. Framework-friendly pricing.

Commercial developers

Office, retail and mixed-use with Part L commercial compliance. ROI modelling at design stage.

Industrial and warehouse

Large-roof PV for logistics centres, manufacturing and industrial units across the South West.

Agricultural landowners

Barn-roof and ground-mount installations. Planning support for agricultural permitted development.

Self-build projects

Bespoke specification and design for individual builds. SAP modelling and MCS certification included.

Compliance and regulation

How we help developers meet the requirements

Part L

Part L Building Regulations

Part L sets the energy performance requirements for new dwellings in England and Wales. Solar PV is one of the most reliable routes to meeting the target fabric energy efficiency rating. We design systems to your SAP assessment from pre-planning stage, so compliance is confirmed before build begins.

Future Homes Standard

Future Homes Standard

The FHS will require new homes to produce 75% less carbon than under current standards. Solar PV, combined with battery storage and heat pump infrastructure, will be central to compliance. We design for FHS requirements now so your schemes are not caught short when the standard takes effect.

SAP / EPC

SAP assessment and EPC uplift

Early-stage solar design lets us model SAP points accurately at specification, not retrospectively. This protects your EPC rating and keeps uplift cost-neutral. Late-stage changes to meet targets cost more and are harder to programme around build constraints.

MCS per plot

MCS certification per plot

Every installation receives an MCS certificate for that specific plot. Buyers receive the certificate as part of their handover documentation, giving them access to Smart Export Guarantee tariffs and full manufacturer warranties from day one of occupation.

Installation options for new build

Solar PV specification types for housebuilders

On-roof solar PV

Standard rafter-mount system sitting above the existing tile line. Fastest to install and the lowest cost per plot. No tile replacement required.

Best forVolume residential schemes and most roof types across the South West.
NoteCompatible with concrete, clay and slate tiles. Works across a wide range of pitches and orientations.

In-roof / integrated solar

Panels sit flush within the tile line, replacing a section of the roof covering. Premium aesthetic, no visual overhang, watertight to BS 8217.

Best forPlanning-sensitive sites, conservation-adjacent schemes and high-specification developments.
NoteAdds 3-5 days to the install per plot compared with standard on-roof. Requires co-ordination with the roofing programme.

Solar pre-wire

First-fix wiring installed at build stage to make the property solar-ready. No panels at handover, but all cabling and isolators are in place.

Best forFuture Homes Standard compliance and schemes where buyers specify solar at point of purchase.
NoteLowest per-plot cost at build stage. Panels can be added at any point post-handover without structural intervention.

Solar plus battery storage

Battery storage specified alongside the solar PV system at design stage. Sized to the scheme and individual property type.

Best forSchemes where SAP modelling or sales specification supports storage. Increases EPC score.
NoteTypically 5-10kWh per plot. Designed to match panel output and household demand profile.

Solar plus EV charging infrastructure

EV charger infrastructure designed and installed alongside the solar PV system. Compatible with OZEV requirements for new homes with dedicated parking.

Best forAll new residential developments with dedicated parking. Required under Building Regulations for new properties from 2022.
NoteCoordinated with solar design to avoid duplicate first-fix visits. Single point of contact across both scopes.

Our process for developer projects

1

Design consultation

We review your planning drawings, SAP assessment and build programme at concept or pre-planning stage. No charge for initial consultation on qualifying schemes.

2

System specification and costings

Full per-plot specification including panel and inverter selection, battery if applicable, and EV charging infrastructure. Costings provided at scheme level with a per-plot breakdown.

3

Technical survey and design sign-off

Site survey, structural assessment and DNO notification where required. Design is locked before build stage to avoid programme disruption or late-stage cost changes.

4

Programme integration

We align our installation schedule with your build sequence, scaffold programme and critical path. One point of contact manages all coordination with your site and commercial teams.

5

Installation

MCS-certified engineers on site. Progress updates at agreed intervals. Installation is typically completed within 4-6 weeks of scaffold availability per plot or phase.

6

Commissioning and handover

Full commissioning per plot, MCS certificate issued, handover pack prepared and building control sign-off documentation included. Clean signoff before legal completion.

Handover documentation

What is in the handover pack

Every plot receives a complete handover pack, ready for legal completion. Buyers get everything they need to register warranties, access Smart Export Guarantee tariffs and understand their system from day one.

  • MCS certificate (per plot)
  • System performance data
  • Inverter and panel commissioning records
  • Manufacturer warranty documentation
  • Homeowner user guide
  • Building control sign-off documentation

Pricing approach

Transparent per-plot pricing structured to your programme

Multi-plot schemes are priced on a per-plot basis with the per-plot rate reflecting scheme volume. Design-stage engagement typically results in a tighter specification and fewer late changes, which protects your build margin.

We do not offer instalment credit or deferred payment. Pricing is fixed at specification sign-off and does not change unless the scope changes.

If you are running concurrent schemes, contact us to discuss a framework arrangement that locks in pricing across your programme.

25%

Survey sign-off

Confirms your slot in the installation schedule and locks in per-plot pricing for the scheme.

35%

Materials order

Collected when panels, inverters and mounting hardware are ordered — typically 4-6 weeks before installation begins.

40%

Completion

Due on commissioning, once the system is running and the handover pack is ready for legal completion.

Service area

New build solar PV across the South West

We operate within a 100-mile radius of our Somerset base. That gives us meaningful density across the South West and into South Wales — close enough to respond quickly when programme changes arise, and to maintain a single point of contact without subcontracting.

If your scheme is on the boundary of this area, contact us. We consider schemes outside the core radius on a case-by-case basis, particularly for multi-phase or framework-level programmes.
